R2 Belt Weigher Trade Certification Project

R2 Belt Weigher Trade Certification Project

In a competitive power market, coal-fired power stations such as Stanwell need accurate coal feed information to manage the viability of their business.

Stanwell was already purchasing their coal over CST “Trade Certifiable” belt weighers, but the belt weighers needed to be officially tested to Australian Government NMI standards to have legal authority.  Testing to NMI (NITP6.5) standards can be difficult to accomplish and this where CST was again able to help.

In order to verify the new belt weigher, accurately pre-weighed coal must be run across the belt weigher from the rail receival hopper. In fact, trade verification requires a minimum of ten (10) test loads at controlled flow rates.  CST was able to engineer and build a system for weighing test loads directly into the receivals hopper. The system consists of a pair of Check Weigh Bins and Mobile Transfer Conveyors that will meet the strict requirements of NMI.

CST has a Servicing License from the NMI (SL-026) which authorises CST to verify belt weighers for trade purposes.  Verification for trade purposes is performed in accordance with National Instrument Test Procedure (NITP) 6.5 under the guidance of CST’s registered team of weighing specialists.  Having chosen to specialise in belt weighing, CST, a 100% Australian enterprise, has continued to demonstrate their expertise in belt weighing and all the necessary support services, whether it be engineering, manufacture, maintenance support or trade verification.
