Strengthening Relationships Across Africa’s Mining Sector
CST continues to strengthen its presence across Africa through direct engagement with mining operators, industry stakeholders and regulatory bodies across the region.
Recent visits by CST’s Africa Business Development Manager, Gregory Armstrong, included meetings with government representatives, mining organisations and industry leaders in Zambia, as well as site visits to operations across Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.
Type approval confirms that a system has been independently assessed and meets strict legal standards for trade use, and it can now undergo formal legal-for-trade assessment once installed on site. Particularly for export operations like ports, this provides a level of assurance that measurement data can be relied upon in commercial transactions, audits and reporting processes.
As mining production and export activity continue to grow across Africa, accurate measurement is becoming increasingly important to operational performance, material accountability and regulatory compliance. Reliable belt weighing systems play a critical role in providing the confidence needed to support production reporting, reconciliation and commercial transactions throughout the value chain.

Throughout the trip, CST met with the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development in Zambia and the Zambia Metrology Agency (ZMA), organisations central to mining development and measurement integrity across the country. These conversations highlighted the growing importance of accurate, verifiable measurement systems in supporting both operational efficiency and industry compliance.
Traveling across the region and visiting sites is an opportunity to better understand local operational challenges, regulatory requirements and industry priorities, ensuring the solutions we provide resolve genuine challenges on the ground.
Whether supporting accurate measurement in the Copperbelt, material accountability along major transport corridors like the Lobito Corridor and Tazara Railway Route, or legal-for-trade weighing at export terminals like NamPort in Namibia, CST remains committed to helping African operations establish confidence in every tonne measured.
